GENERAL OVERVIEW

Missione Rumore was founded in 1996 by citizens disturbed by noise who did not receive support from the public administration.

Acoustical engineers and specialists in litigations concerning problems occurring in private homes play an active role in the Association

Missione Rumore deals with noise in homes caused by uncaring neighbours, nearby discos, voice levels from nearby bars and restaurants, noise deriving from air conditioning systems, heating systems, lifts, at apartment complexes

Missione Rumore is an advice centre for people troubled by noises. It defends the rights of the people damaged by noise but also the legal rights of those who produce noise if they respect the limits set by law. The association is non-profit and with its income entirely membership based.

Missione Rumore is independent of political parties and unions.

Its members include  people seeking a solution for their own noise problem.

The kind of help the association provides is as follows:

  • It gives its members, whether damaged by noise or responsible for the noise, all the necessary information for the solution of the problem, and for the general acoustic improvement of the problem area
  • It supports the protest taken by its members, whether individual or groups, working towards a just solution
  • It promotes prevention of damages caused by noise especially in school-aged young persons (i.e. loud music)
  • It contributes to the research and the development of building plans which take into account the most efficient ways of minimizing noise and vibrations
  • It takes part in apartmnt complexes issues regarding noise
  • It examines proposed laws, rulings technical and administrative norms concerning noise and vibration control and submits them to the Public Administration.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

Several associates are in the process of forming a group dealing with the issues surrounding  passive music, or piped music, and electronically operated church bells.  In the future there will be general articles and discussions of specific areas such as piped music, outcomes of litigations, and church bells in English.
